This coffee is a fun journey for us at Victrola! A couple of years ago our friends at Atlantic Specialty were sent 1 kilogram of mystery coffee from Dung K'No in Vietnam (a small growing community outside of Da Lat, Vietnam). They shared with us the 1 kilo offering and we roasted it to present at their booth at the annual SCA show. We were all blown away by this coffee and in learning more we got excited at the possibilities!
Later that year we took a trip out to Vietnam to visit with ACOM (the mill that works with Dung K'No) and see how they operate and learn more about the struggles that all parties go through for excellent coffee to be exported out of Vietnam.
Because of the Vietnamese government's regulations, traditionally the mill is not allowed to speak to the coffee farmers at all. They are supposed to work through government appointed middle men. ACOM worked out a deal with the government to make contact with a few farming communities in the south and in the north to purchase coffee directly from the farmers and offer educational information on how to grow and pick their coffee for specialty coffee.
We learned a lot about the farmers of Dung K'No and have been happy to use their coffee in our Triborough Blend. This coffee is the height of their abilities in processing and is the baseline for our continued partnership in Dung K'No for many years. We are stoked to see how they grow and advance their craft and we are extremely proud of the effect we are having and will continue to have with the farmers of Dung K'No.
