kenyagiraffe.jpg It's been pretty exciting around the Roastery lately! Pallets and pallets of coffee have been passing through the garage doors, and among them have been a couple bags of our long awaited Kenya.  Hoorah!  Here's a little bit about it: Straight from the southwestern slopes of Mt. Kenya in the Nyeri District, this coffee is carefully tended by the Gikaru Coffee Farmers Cooperative Society. Sharing the Ichamara washing station, this co-op produces and processes their crop with astonishing results: a pleasantly high acidity; yet, the smooth heaviness sinks this coffee from the roof of your mouth to the base of your tongue. There, you find unmistakable black currant, with a parting hint of exotic citrus in the lingering finish. Complex, bold, and mouthwatering… this is a Kenya you’ll be sure to remember! Agreed.  We also like this coffee because it has a giraffe on the bag.  Cute! But aesthetics aside, we can also tell you that this coffee has been given the highest grading in Kenya (AA), and comes from the reputable yet unromantically named SL28 cultivar.  But of all the work and care that goes into this coffee, we just love what comes out in the cup... and hope that you do as well.  Try it for yourself as a French press at either of our cafes (where we also have it stocked as whole bean), or order it online!
