The Greening of Victrola
Why a photo of a toilet in our bathroom? Well, we're pretty proud of it and want to thank the City of Seattle for providing it for us ( and our customer who chased me down on my way out the door a few months ago who told me about the program!) The city has an awesome program to help homes and buisnesses conserve water by replacing for free any older, water guzzling toilets with brand new 1.6 gallon per flush toilets. You can check out some of the other cool things they are doing at http://www.savingwater.org/.
Water isn't our only concern. We have been composting here at Victrola for the past couple of years. All of our spent coffee grounds and food scraps go into a big composting bin that gets picked up and used for the Cedar Grove compost many of you buy for your gardens. We also use 100% biodegradble "ecosleeves" for our coffee cups and 100% biodegradable/recycleable kraft bags for most of our whole bean coffees. By the end of 2007 we will be using 100% wind powered electricity at both of our locations and hope to have delivery vehicles with alternative fuel/electricity.
