Guatemala Finca Las Camelias
12 oz Valve bag
Fragrance/Aroma: Walnut, Strawberry, Pastry
Flavor: Strawberry, Peanut, Agave
This exciting new lot comes to us from Mr. Damian Benavente and Finca Las Camelias in Patzún, Guatemala.
Las Camelias is a very old farm, and has cultivated coffee for more than 70 years. Many of the farm’s trees are over 50 years old; which contributes to the coffee’s unique flavor. In the Benavente family, coffee is very much a family affair. Mr. Benavente recently inherited the farm from his father; and his Grandfather was the farm’s founder.
Patzún is located in the Chimaltenango region, near the shores of lake Atitlan. Patzún is a municipality which sits inside a canyon in a very mountainous region, which provides excellent shade for the coffee threes. The farm’s nearest town is Panijab, which means “between stones of volcanoes”. It is said that this area was once home to multiple active volcanoes, which could explain the exceptional soil quality in the area.
Delicious notes of walnut and red fruits such as strawberry and cherry are present in coffee’s dry aroma. When brewed, the strawberry note gains clarity, and is accompanied by complex flavors of mango and orange. Agave, peanut and cinnamon notes carry this crisply medium-bodied coffee coffee through to a clean and flavorful finish.
