The importer of this coffee, Keffa, was founded in 2006 by Samuel Demisse, an Ethiopian native and second generation coffee professional. Keffa is dedicated to providing market access to coffee producers, and to maintaining high quality standards, working only with those that pay higher than standard wages.
Keffa’s YirgZ takes the classic Yirgacheffe taste profile to the next level by ensuring zero defects. The coffee is rigorously sorted in a process that includes mechanical sorting by size and density, then careful hand sorting that takes three times longer than conventional coffee.
The numbered Varietals you see here are part of the effort in Ethiopia to trace and name varietals grown in Ethiopia that historically have just been generally referred to as Heirloom or Landrace.
