Kiriga Estate was founded in 1954 by colonial settlers, purchased by Aloysius Gakunga in 1976 and passed to his son, Dr. Brian Gakunga.

We have had the privilege of buying Dr. Gakunga's peaberry coffee since 2015,  We were first introduced to this coffee by our good friend Jim Kusak and this lot was imported by Royal Coffee.

A peaberry is a naturally occurring mutation where only one seed develops in the coffee cherry.  Peaberries make up about 5-10% of any given coffee harvest and are distinguished by an ovoid shape.
